With the goal of breaking the language barriers, Google is working on the development of new multilingual large language model (LLM) called Gemma 2, more specifically, Gemma 2 2B JPN variant.
The new AI model "can understand many larger languages", but I think that after it's fully developed, it will be able to understand and talk in pretty much every language like GPT 4 does.
Since this is a lightweight AI model meant to run offline on a phone, it's similar in intelligence compared to GPT 3.5 which was in of itself a good and capable LLM with many use cases.
I will be following Gemma's progress and I'm excited to see where AI takes us in the future!
